Ranging from 45 to 135 square metres in size, each room features floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the landscaped gardens, park and new city centre. The location is predominantly residential and is an ideal base for travellers doing business in Tangshan.

Tangshan is a coastal city in Northern China with a century-long history as the “Treasured Land East of Beijing”. Facing the Bohai Sea to the south, and the Yan Mountains in the north, Tangshan borders Qinhuangdao to the east, and Beijing and Tianjin to the west. The city lies in a strategic area linking China’s north and northeast region.

Deluxe City View Room – 1,000

Deluxe City View Rooms are 45 square meters in size and overlook Changhong West Road. Each room features contemporary décor in natural, warm colours, and touches of floral patterns. In my opinion one of the best looking designed urban hotel rooms of the Shangri-La group. The ottoman bench by the foot of the bed gives the room an elegant touch, a modern yet classic design composition.

Shangri-La Hotel Qufu, China

Shangri-La Hotel, Qufu opened in 2013 as a modern sanctuary in a land of historical beauty, the home and birthplace of the great philosopher, Confucius. Known as the “sacred city” of the East, Qufu is one of China’s most famous historical and cultural cities. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the Temple of Confucius and the Kong Family Mansion.

Emperors of the past decorated temples with steles, praising the respected thinker and many other historic figures. With more than 2,500 years of history, the city charms with its characteristic antiquity and architecture from past dynasties.

Shangri-La Hotel, Wuhan is located within Wuhan’s vibrant financial district. Wuhan is the capital of Hubei Province and is the most populous city in central China. It has a flourishing economy supported by trade, transportation and technology.

Deluxe Room – 1,000

The Deluxe Room ranges from 36 to 43 square meters in space and features the more classic Shangri-La interiors with its distinct warm glow. Depending on your style preference it could be seen as dated or classic, what is certain is the consistent and familiar Shangri-La service.

Shangri-La Hotel Yiwu, China

Horizon Executive Room – 2,000 (Recommended)

The Horizon Executive Room (72 square meters) is more than just a room, but more similar to a one-bedroom suite setup with separate living area and bedroom. I’d say this is an upgrade version of a junior suite, as a proper one-bedroom suite would have a guest washroom and at least a 4-seater dining table, which aren’t fitted in this room.

Being that this is a Horizon category room, guests have access to the Horizon Club Lounge and its complimentary benefits, such as breakfast, afternoon tea, evening happy hour and canapés, and all-day non-alcoholic refreshments and snacks.

Hotel Jen Manila, Philippines

Hotel Jen, Manila is located on Roxas Boulevard, strategical situated across from the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), and Star City amusement park. The hotel also provides a complimentary scheduled shuttle service to the nearby SM Mall of Asia (MOA) for your convenience.

I have stayed multiple times throughout the years at Hotel Jen Manila even during its early life as the former Holiday Inn Manila and then the Traders Hotel by Shangri-La before it was rebranded to a Hotel Jen in late 2014. Metro Manila is a sprawling metropolis with a high density of both people and vehicles, which is why sometimes an overnight setup before an international flights is needed. Hotel Jen Manila’s convenient location and easy access to the recently completed (2017) elevated NAIA Expressway makes departing from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals 1, 2, and 3 less stressful. For your utmost convenience I recommend using the hotel transfer to the airport, it’s a little over just double what you would pay for a taxi or ride sharing app (GrabCar), well worth the hassle free experience.

Deluxe Bayview Room – 1,000 (Recommended)

The Deluxe Bayview Room (36 square meters) offers the same amenities as the Deluxe Room but with a guaranteed view of the Manila Bay.

NOTES Request for a room facing the Manila Yacht Club for an obstructed view.

TIPS Pay for an upgrade to a club room for only 1,650 PHP (~30 USD), which gets your upgraded to their renovated Club Bayview Rooms located on floors 18 and 19. Guests staying in Club Rooms are granted access to the club lounge on level 19 with benefits, such as complimentary buffet breakfast, afternoon tea, happy hour with evening canapés, and all-day refreshments. Don’t forget to watch the amazing vivid sunsets over Manila Bay, it’s one the reasons why a club room is a must.

Deluxe Room – 1,000

Deluxe Room (36 square meters) is spacious by Hotel Jen standards, only Hotel Jen Shenyang and the flagship Hotel Jen Beijing offer more space in the lead-in deluxe room category. The bathroom is compact but functional and features a bathtub shower combo with reliable temperature and pressure. Deluxe Rooms have partial views of the famed Manila Bay.

Golden Circle Members with Diamond status further the value of the redemption with complimentary Horizon Club Lounge access during their stay even when booking the lowest category (lead-in) room, again also applicable during redemption stays. Golden Circle Diamond Members also have higher, if not guaranteed chance to be upgraded to at least a Horizon Club Room or Suite.

NOTES Members with Diamond status have an advantage when redeeming nights at Collection B Hotels (2,000 GC per night) as they automatically receive complimentary Horizon Club Lounge access instead of the required 3,500 GC points to redeem for a Horizon Room for Gold and Jade Members.
