Marco Polo Manila for sometime had me curious being Manila’s first sky-hotel located on the top floors of a 45 storey building in Ortigas CBD. I decided to book a much a larger room for this stay, as the lead-in guestroom albeit respectably sized isn’t going to compensate for the lack of a garden scenery that my usual hotel in Oritgas offers. Since I know this is going to be a sleep-cation a more spacious room was merited. More of the room later, first a brief overview of the property.

Marco Polo Manila is a upscale business hotel located within the Ortigas business district. The property features 316 spacious rooms and suites; 4 dining outlets and a sky bar on the 45th floor.

Marco Polo Ortigas Manila is centrally located in the Ortigas Business District between Mandaluyong and Pasig City. The hotel is near organizations such as Asian Development Bank, Rockwell Business Park, San Miguel Corporation HQ, and manys major Business Process Outsource (BPO) establishments. Just a short walk from the hotel are shopping and entertainment areas, such as SM Megamall, The recently renovated Podium mall, Robinson’s Galleria, and the upscale Shangri-La Plaza Mall complex.

Guests arrive at welcome lobby on the ground floor and have to make their way to the hotel sky lobby on the 24th floor for check-in and welcome refreshments. The hotel occupies levels 22 to 45 of the building, which offers rooms with panoramic views of the surrounding urban landscape.

Surrounding the hotel are numerous restaurant and bars, but I recommend checking-out the excellent dining options within the hotel, such as Cucina (All-Day Dining and Buffet); Connect Lounge for afternoon tea by the lobby; Café Pronto for quick bites; Lung Hin for authentic Cantonese cuisine; and Vu’s Sky Bar and Lounge on the 45th floor for evening drinks and the daily live performances.

Sky lobby and lounge

Marco Polo Manila features the first sky lobby in the Philippines which welcomes guests to sweeping view of the metro. On the same floor you’ll find Cucina the hotel’s breakfast venue and the Connect Lounge.

The hotel is designed to calm you senses with rooms and suites done in relaxed earth-tone colours of brown, beige,  green and touches of lively red accents. The overall classic elegance keeps the look fresh and comforting. The hotel has six categories; Superior Room, Deluxe Room, Premier Room, Superior Suite, Executive Suite, Continental Club Room, and the Marco Polo Suite.

Premier Room

On this stay I checked-in to a Premier Room which has a floor area ranging from 51 to 61 square meters. The Premier room is only available with a King-sized bed, but there’s enough space for an extra-bed if needed. The bed is nicely padded with a plush mattress topper and duvet, the silky soft sheets complete the deal for a good night’s rest.

Details such as the pencil, paper and analog clock on the night stand are convenient for when ideas pop-up at anytime.

The premier room includes a small dining table perfect for an afternoon tea or coffee and in-room dining. In the corner you’ll find the the complimentary Nespresso Machine and Tea making facility.

It’s always a nice feeling to be welcomed with fresh fruits, some may prefer a chocolate amenity, but that can always be arranged on turn-down service.

Welcome Fruit Amenity

Before heading out for dinner I explored more of the rooms facilities and amenities. First on our list was the in-room safe, would it accommodate a 13-inch laptop?

Yes. The safety box on my estimate can accommodate up to a 15 inch laptop.
My Macbook pro fits perfectly inside and with space to spare, but for truly important items I always recommend storing it at the safety deposit of the hotel.  The in-room safe is located in a drawer under the TV.

Executive Desk

The full-size executive desk includes all necessary amenities for light business work. Standard stationery set with accompanying pens and pencils.

Telephone with dedicated service buttons

The desk has a convenient connectivity console which includes 2 universal power outlets; USB charging; and numerous connections to the TV such as an analog RCA jack; DVI port; a 3.5 mm audio connector for music, and digital HDMI input. You can request any of the following appropriate cables from guest services.

Marco Polo Manila Stationery

I appreciate how everything in the room is kept organized with wooden boxes.

The bathroom in the premier room reverts to the more conservative layout without the revealing window to the bedroom, giving the space some coziness.
Marco Polo Manila Premier Room Bathroom

The ensuite bathroom features a double sink vanity with a large winged mirror setup to convenience grooming. Attached to the wall is a flexible lighted magnification mirror for more delicate facial preparations.

Marco Polo Manila Bathroom Amenity

Standard toiletries include shower cap, bath salts, cotton buds, comb, sanitary bag, shaving kit and dental kits are provided. Plush towels and silky bath robes complete the bathroom necessities.

Trussardi My Land line of toiletries

Marco Polo Manila not only makes you feel and see luxury, they also make you smell luxurious with Trussardi branded line of bathroom amenities from Milan, Italy. The complete package soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion.

A relaxing bubble bath

Tubs are meant for bubble baths and I’m glad that the strong water pressure and stable temperature control made it easy to setup. Marco Polo also provides guests with bath salt to exfoliate and relax the body.

For the bubbles I use 1/3 of the Milky Bath (295 PHP) Bubble Bar from Lush it’s my favourite among their line. It answers the question on how it would feel to dip into a tub of milk. I always have this handy as they tend to sell-out fast.

Bath Salt

The hotel features an indoor infinity pool on the 22nd floor and offers a view of the Ortigas Center skyscrapers. On the far end of the pool area is a separate jacuzzi. The pool area is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.
