The hotel driveway is situated on the side of the building tucked away in an alleyway that connects Dong Khoi street and Nguyen Hue Boulevard. The grand entrance sparkles from the luminance of the custom Murano glass chandeliers. The exotic blue marble doorways invite and excite on sight, signalling the beginning of your Reverie experience. To the left and right of the welcome lobby are the entrances to the boutique shopping arcade which both have street-level access. The mysterious and ornate marble-cladded hallway in the middle is the elevator lobby for the lifts that take you direct to the main lobby on level 7 for check-in and transfer to guest exclusive elevators. Guests booked in club-level category rooms and suites or guests who availed the VIP Arrival Service are escorted to the club lounge on the level 39 or to their pre-arranged accommodation for in-room check-in.
My Check-in Experience:
Having arrived Ho Chi Minh City a week prior to my stay at The Reverie, I didn’t bother arranging for an airport pick-up as transport from previous hotel sufficed, although a Rolls Royce Phantom Dragon ($350 USD one-way) transfer would’ve been memorable, but not practical for such a short journey. Despite my unexpected arrival, lobby personnel welcomed and facilitated my luggage without question and promptly directed me to the main lobby on level 7 with a straightforward welcoming tone, giving me the feeling I was expected all along.
The check-in process lasted around 5-minutes. I initiate the process by handing over my passport, marking the begin of my staycation. Shortly after being informed of my stay and its inclusions, I was handed a glass of pressed watermelon juice, which was refreshing to the throat, and a second helping was quickly offered. I also handed over my luggage stub for delivery.
The incidental deposit of $100 USD per night can be guaranteed by credit card or cash (recommended). If you guarantee with cash, they will seal your bills in an envelope (don’t forget to sign over the flaps for safety) for safe keeping to be returned to you upon check-out. You can then settle with your credit card or cash (Local currency VND and USD is accepted).
Right after the paperwork, I was assisted by one of the front desk agents to my room via the exclusive elevators for in-house guests. My Grand Deluxe Twin room was located on level 30 which overlooked the Saigon River one side and downtown Ho Chi Minh on the other. I had to cut-short my room tour as the lunch buffet at Café Cardinal was waiting.
Furnished in the hotel’s playful, eclectic style, all of The Reverie Saigon’s 286 rooms and suites pay homage to the Italian passion for exquisite décor, artistry and craftsmanship. The deluxe room sized at 43 square meters is among, if not the largest lead-in guestroom in the city. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the Saigon river and Ho Chi Minh city skyline.
Why I stayed at The Reverie Saigon:
My personal taste for travel is determined by the hotels of a destination, call it restrictive or even misguided, but we all travel differently. There are no rules, some people travel to assimilate new cultures, some travel to eat, some even travel just for the sake of flying, and I happen to travel for the love of hotels and of course to eat. Escaping boredom and finding peace in an orchestrated environment of a hotel is what I enjoy experiencing the most when travelling.
The Reverie Saigon satisfied my visual craving for excitement. The property is an explosion of ideas with an overzealous design philosophy of more means better, composed in an otherwise omnipresent glass-cladded building. It’s definitely over-the-top on first glance, but look closer and you’ll see the details in service and amenities they’ve managed to deliver, they just can’t help but be upfront about it. As the old saying goes, “don’t judge a book by it’s cover!” or in The Reverie’s case, by its furnishings.
Each room, suite, and every space at The Reverie Saigon is extravagantly designed and furnished to impress, even Liberace himself would have been pleased. Mirrored, marbled, lacquered and gilded, every ceiling, wall and floor shines and sparkles, there’s nothing plain about it.
The stunning decor of the Grand Deluxe Twin Room is heightened by the wrap-around floor-to ceiling windows that open-up the bedroom to the spectacular cityscape views of old-world and modern Saigon. Unique to the twin room configuration of the Grand Deluxe Room category is the scenic bathroom with a window-side bathtub over looking the city. READ MORE ➤
